Maximize the Economy, Minimize the Government
It's no secret why California is in trouble big government is destroying the economy with high taxes, abusive regulations, outrageous workmen's compensation premiums and interference in the power industry. The marketplace is like a garden. When free it produces a bountiful harvest for all, but when the weed of government enters it steals resources, strangles production and ruins the harvest. I'm the only candidate who wants to pull out the weed by the root, not just trim its leaves.
I will help California roar to life by cutting government spending 50% and lowering taxes and regulations across the board. I will make government as small as possible so that our economy can be as large as possible. Failing, tax-supported government programs will be replaced by more effective, lower-cost, voluntary solutions provided by resourceful business people competing to win your business. See the work of freedom in grocery stores filled with food, hospitals filled with lifesaving technology, and a computer industry filled with innovation. See the work of big government in power blackouts, failing schools and traffic jams. The more important the task, the more reason it should be handled by resourceful companies motivated by profit, not bumbling politicians motivated by power.
Education spending accounts for around half of government spending. Therefore, to cut government spending by at least 50% I will replace high cost/low quality public schools with low cost/high quality private schools. More spending will not yield better schools. California teachers are among the highest paid in the nation, yet a 2002 study by the U.S. Department of Education showed that California's students ranked at the bottom of a reading test among 43 states that participated in the study. Public schools have been a failure for decades while private schools and universities have consistently performed better. I want to give all parents the opportunity to send their child to private school of their choice. The will end up with a better education for less than they currently pay in school taxes.
Would you rather have private schools run by smart and resourceful businesspeople competing for your business or public schools that take your tax money and offer crime-ridden, drug filled, failing schools. You don't have to dream about sending your child to a private school anymore. If elected I will make it possible by undertaking the largest transformation of government since Poland switched from socialism to freedom. I will upgrade all schools and colleges from public to private by transitioning them from government management to private management.

Read America's second most influential book, Atlas Shrugged. Written almost 50 years ago by Ayn Rand, a Russian immigrant to California, this book predicts our current crisis and offers a powerful solution. It fits California's situation so well that the statements of current politicians could easily be interchanged with the statements of politicians in the book. Soon you will know the answer to Atlas Shrugged's mysterious question "Who is John Galt?"
